Dear Yamaha Owner:

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the Consumer Product Safety Act. Yamaha Motor Corporation, U.S.A. has decided that a defect which relates to vehicle safety may exist in certain 2008-model YXR45FX (Rhino 450), YXR45FHX (Rhino 450 Hunter), YXR45FSPX (Rhino 450 Speclal Edition), YXR70FX (Rhino 700FI), YXR70FDUX (Rhino 700FI Ducks Unlimited), YXR70FHX (Rhino 700FI Hunter), YXR70FSEPWFSP2X (Rhino 700FI Special Edition models), and YXR70FSPX (Rhino 70061 Sport Edition) Side x Side vehicles. Our records indicate that you own the affected Rhino vehicle shown above.

The reason for this recall:
In affected vehicles, the brake, caliper on the left front wheel may have been machined incorrectly, preventing the union joint ('banjo") bolt from sealing properly against the caliper. This condition could result in a brake fluid leak and reduced braking ability which could cause loss of control.

What Yamaha and your dealer will do:
To correct this defect, your authorized Yamaha dealer will inspect the brake caliper for a mark which identifies affected calipers and, if found, will replace the caliper with a new one. The modification takes about 40 minutes to do, but your dealer may need to keep your Rhino longer depending upon their schedule.

What you should do now:
Please call your Yamaha dealer to make a service appointment to have this procedure performed. At that same time, you can find out how long they expect to keep your Rhino for this service. Remember to take this letter with you when you take in your Rhino.

You should not drive your Rhino until this modification is performed.

If you are unable to return to the Yamaha dealer who sold you the Rhino, this service will be performed by any authorized Yamaha Side x Side dealer. For the name of a dealer near you, call 1-800-88-YAMAHA or visit the Yamaha web site at: www.yamaha-motor.com.
