| 1. | Add
a fuel stabilizer like Sta-Bil to your fuel and then top off your
tank. This prevents fuel oxidation and separation of moisture from the air. |
| 2. | Change
your oil and filter. This helps remove acids from the engine that can etch bearings
while sitting for extended periods of time without running. |
| 3. | Use
a trickle charger with your battery. We have the Optimate 3 & 4 battery
charger and several versions of the Battery Tender products available
for your use. These can be alternated with your other vehicles. Proper battery
maintenance can extend your battery life by a s much as 20%. Automotive chargers
are not recommended for motorcycles! Too High charging rates can damage your
battery. Keep in mind that many battery manufacturers recommend removal of the
battery before charging. Check your manual to be sure. |
| 4. | If
your bike uses coolant, check your coolant to make sure you are protected for
temperatures common in your area. Improper levels of coolant can cause engine
and radiator damage. |
| 5. | Clean
the vehicle. Remove any dirt, debris and brake dust with the proper cleaners and
cloths, and then apply a coat of wax before covering. |
| 6. | Stands.
It is best to put your vehicle on some sort of stand to pre-vent flat spotting
on the tires. |
| 7. | Plug
or cover any openings to prevent rodents from building nests, Exhaust pipes and
intake manifolds are common areas to pest infestation. |
| 8. | Covering
Place a cover over your vehicle for the off season, To keep abrasive airborne
debris off the surface of your vehicle which can cause scratches. |
